She didn’t like cages. She’d seen a fair amount of them, through her travels around the universe, but that had never tempered her distaste. So while she scanned the room with just a flicker of annoyance, beneath her calm exterior Lapis Lazuli was more than a little angry.

For one thing, she couldn’t sense her sister, Lorelei Lee. The two had been inseparable since birth and had a habit of completing each other’s sentences. There was something seriously, seriously wrong if the two twins had been separated.

“Blast.” Lapis Lazuli swore, then examined the bag at her feet. She couldn’t remember packing it, though she knew immediately what was in it.

A small electrical device came out first. She glanced at it, swore again, and tossed it heedlessly on the bed. According to the blinking read out who ever had captured her had managed to find the recorder and transmitter. No one would be coming to her rescue anytime soon. Of course, she preferred it that way.

They had taken her handguns as well, but left the knives sewn into the lining of the bag. With time honed practice she concealed them around her body, leaving them in places few good girls would think to look. Still, they were easily accessible, and she had no qualms about using them.

Cloths. For a moment she debated on whether or not to remain in the shift or to go naked. But they (who ever they were) had left her cloths and she could hear a city above her. Best to be prepared for whatever might be up there. So the shift came off and was carefully folded back into the bag. She replaced it with a kilt and shirt in Long Family colors and then let her hair down.

She examined herself critically in the mirrored surface of the computer. Then, ready to face whatever world she had found herself in, she flicked the monitor on and set out to find where she was.

The screen came to life, showing a single page of text, briefly summarizing her purpose here. After scanning through the document, and then rereading it twice in shocked silence, Lapis Lazuli burst out laughing. Of all the silly - she chuckled - of all the silly experiments, she of all people had gotten roped into this one! Thinking back, she couldn't even remember the last time she had been forced to wait a full ten days -

And then she remembered that she was no longer alone in her head. Who knew what dirty, letcherous old men (like her brother) were looking in on her that very moment. In that case...she shot a particularly explicite mental image across her visual nodes, along with the thought 'enjoy this' and a few choice insults she had been saving.

But despite her amusement, Lapis Lazuli was worried. She hadn't liked the sound of the 'labs' they had mentioned, and desperately hoped that her sister hadn't been interned there.

"If they hurt even a single hair on her head..." She shook the thought away, not wanting to concentrait on it to hard, in case her captors followed through with it. Instead she closed the small laptop down and tucked it carefully in her bag. Despite wanting to do a bit more research over the computer, she didn't feel comfortable in the cage. And if it was true that they were free to go when ever they wanted, she might as well explore this 'city' she would be living in for the next few months. Or years, she amended, or how ever long it took to find Lorelei Lee.
